took a quick glance at VBGore a while back, sorry to say that it didn't feel very straightforward.
We actually made Sagramore's development tools very straightforward to allow our team-members to easily manage all assets, art, maps, skills, items and npcs. This way we never need to nag our head developer (Borf) to "add maps or assets" as artists can simply do it themselves! Npcs are placed and scripted live ingame (while its running), maps are made using a special mapeditor.
I believe that our development tools could also serve to create other mmo games at some point. I might open up that dialog should the right (motivated/experienced) team come along.
